Multisig & Inheritance Planner

Design an m-of-n quorum, place each key, and see exactly how your setup holds up against a lost device, a house fire, a wrench attack, and your own death. It never asks for keys, seeds, or xpubs.

3 · The Inheritance Plan

Multisig is the best inheritance tool in Bitcoin: you can hand heirs a path to the coins without ever giving one person enough to steal them while you're alive. The trick is to arrange it so your heir plus one professional co-signer can reach the threshold — but neither can alone.

For your 2-of-3 setup
Your heir will need 2 of the 3 keys. Leave them enough personally-held keys to be one short of the threshold, and let the professional key (Collaborative-custody co-signer) be the final signature they request with a death certificate. That way no single person — heir or professional — can move the coins until you're actually gone.
The letter your heirs need (no secrets in it)
1That the Bitcoin exists, roughly how much, and that it is held in multisig — not on an exchange.
2Where each of the 3 keys physically lives, and who to contact for the professional key.
3The wallet software / coordinator to use (e.g. Sparrow, Nunchuk) and where the wallet descriptor / backup file is stored.
4That they need any 2 keys — not all of them — and step-by-step, who to reach in what order.
5Whom to trust for help, and explicitly whom NOT to send the keys or seed words to.

A planning aid, not custody or legal advice. It models where keys live to surface single points of failure and coercion — it does not create, hold, or see any keys. Confirm your setup with the wallet software you use and, for inheritance, a professional.
